Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP is proud to welcome nine law students to its 2024 summer associate program. Our Summer Associates collaborate closely with Marshall Gerstein attorneys, delving into the intricate realm of intellectual property (IP) law and the diverse technologies our attorneys engage with daily. The program offers an exhilarating introduction into inventor and client interaction. Structured to provide students with hands-on legal experience, it entails tackling real-world assignments across intellectual property fields such as litigation, prosecution, and transactional matters. Beyond aiding Marshall Gerstein attorneys in their multifaceted responsibilities, summer associates partake in various social gatherings, fostering camaraderie with the firm's legal experts while immersing themselves in the vibrant culture of Chicago.

We are excited to welcome our 2024 Summer Associate class:

Royi Brezner is a 2L at Benjamin Cardozo School of Law, and will be working with our Electrical and Computer Technologies prosecution group. Royi received his M.S. in artificial intelligence from Queens University, and his B.S. in computer science from Western University.

Thomas Burnett, a 1L at Northwestern University School of Law, will be working with our Biotechnology & Life Sciences prosecution group.  Thomas received his master’s degree in neuroscience from Johns Hopkins, and his bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Maryland.

Daniela Dulworth, a 2L at Chicago Kent College of Law , and will be working with our IP Litigation group. Daniela received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Case Western Reserve University.

Martin Feng, a 2L at the Northwestern School of Law, will be working with our Biotechnology & Life Sciences prosecution group. Martin received his master’s degree in neurobiology from Northwestern University, and his bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from William & Mary.

Joseph (Joey) Forchetti is a 2L at University of Notre Dame Law School, and will be working with our Electrical and Computer Technologies prosecution group. Joey received his B.A. in physics and computational math from Wabash College.

Matthew Nealon is a 2L at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and will be working with our Electrical and Computer Technologies prosecution group. Matthew received his bachelor’s degree in physics and political science from North Central College in Illinois.

Katelyn Sears, a 1L at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, will be working with our Industrial & Mechanical Technologies prosecution group. Katelyn received her B.S. in biomedical engineering from Florida State University.

Alexa Spitz, a 2L at Boston College, will be working with our Trademarks practice group this summer.  Alexa received her bachelor’s degree in international studies from Boston College.

Christopher (Topher) Zahn is a 2L at Northwestern School of Law and will be working with our Industrial & Mechanical Technologies prosecution group. Topher received his bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
